Here are 5 natural ways to lower blood pressure:

  1. Incorporate regular exercise and physical activity into your routine, such as walking, to make your heart stronger and more efficient at pumping blood. 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise can help improve heart health and lower blood pressure.

  2. Reduce your sodium intake by avoiding processed and prepared foods that are high in salt. Salt intake has been linked to high blood pressure, but the relationship between sodium and high blood pressure is less clear due to genetic differences in how people process sodium. Cutting back on sodium can help those who are sensitive to the effects of salt.

  3. Limit alcohol consumption as drinking alcohol can raise blood pressure and increase the risk of chronic health conditions. Moderation is key, with no more than one drink per day for females and two drinks per day for males recommended.

  4. Increase your consumption of potassium-rich foods, which help your body get rid of sodium and ease pressure on your blood vessels. Foods high in potassium include leafy greens, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, melons, bananas, avocados, oranges, apricots, dairy, tuna, salmon, nuts, seeds, and beans.

  5. Cut back on caffeine if you suspect it may be affecting your blood pressure. While caffeine can cause a short-term spike in blood pressure, regular consumption does not appear to cause a lasting increase in most people.
